Revelation, Biblical Feasts and ................... Hebrew thought - - - Revelation 4

Green: God/Jesus    Yellow:  People     Orange:  Unbelief / sin     Blue:  Hebrew thought

In Revelation 4 John is given vision of God's throne and 'things to come' - -

The 4th Hebrew letter DALET means DOOR.  Revelation 4 begins with 'a DOOR standing open in heaven'  There are two words commonly translated 'door'.  One [patach] speaks of the 'opening' for the door, the other [dalet / deleth] of the actual door that is hung in or over the opening'.  The 'door' of the house is the barrier (in the sense of protection) of the house (family relationship)'.  The word 'dalet' is introduced in Genesis 19 [QUF] - the letter that illustrates 'separation'. It is interesting to note that if you replace the TAV [cross / salvation] of DLT with a QUF [separation / to be holy] - as  DLQ -  this new word then means 'burn'.

DALET by definition:
1) door, gate 1a) a door 1b) a gate 1c) (fig.) 1c1) of chest lid 1c2) of crocodile jaws
1c3) of doors of the heavens 1c4) of an easily-accessible woman

from a primitive root:

brought low 3, dried up 1, not equal 1, emptied 1, fail 1, impoverished 1, made thin 1; 9 1) to hang, languish, hang down, be low 1a) (Qal) 1a1) to hang low 1a2) to be low 1a3) of distress (fig.) 1a4) to languish, look weakly (of eyes) 1b) (Niphal) to be brought low, be laid low

As GIMEL is the RICH man, DALET is the POOR man, the humbled man, emptied of 'all' so that he can receive 'all' that the 'rich man' has to give him - which will be 'reward [heaven] of punishment [hell:   (burn)]'

DALET

In the book of
Revelation   chapter 1   verse 10

John says,
"I was in the Spirit on the Lord’s Day, and I heard behind me a loud voice,
as of a trumpet ..."

The 'Lord's Day' is expressed in the Greek as ' kuriakos - Lord'.  If it was meant to portray the weekly Sabbath, that day throughout the gospels is given as  'sabbaton'.    The 'Lord's Day', especially in the imagery and context of Revelation, expresses  the Day of the Lord - is the 'Day of Trumpets / Yom Teruah,  the feast of the seventh month that is the beginning of events that introduce the return of the Lord Jesus, the true DOOR of heaven.

It is interesting to note both Exodus and Ezekiel at this point.  Many things that John is being shown for a future generation - Moses and Ezekiel were shown for theirs.  If this is a lesson in 'generational sin' then the lesson needs to be taken to heart.

Revelation 4
 4:1  After these things I looked, and behold, a DOOR standing open in heaven.
          And the first voice which I heard was like a trumpet speaking with me, saying,
         “Come up here, and I will show you things which must take place after this.”

 4:2 Immediately I was in the Spirit; and behold, a throne set in heaven,
          and One sat on the throne.

          Ezekiel 2:2  Then the Spirit entered me when He spoke to me,
                               and set me on my feet; and I heard Him who spoke to me.

 4:3 And He who sat there was like a jasper and a sardius stone in appearance;
          and there was a rainbow around the throne, in appearance like an emerald.

         Exodus 28:17  (The breastplate)  The first row shall be a sardius, a topaz, and an emerald
                     28:20  and the fourth row, a beryl, an onyx, and a jasper.

          Proclamation against the King of Tyre:
          Ezekiel 28:13  The sardius, topaz, and diamond, beryl, onyx, and jasper
                                sapphire, turquoise, and emerald with gold.

Jasper is generally 'purple or blue, sometimes green or the color of brass.  There is one kind called the Aeizusa, like to air and another Crystallzusa, clear as crystal.  (Gives pause to thought of William Seymour and revival on 'Azusa' Street in the 1920's.)  Sardius is red, emerald is green.

 4:4 Around the throne were twenty-four thrones, and
          on the thrones I saw twenty-four elders sitting, clothed in white robes;
          and they had crowns of gold on their heads.

It is on YOM KIPPUR / the Day of ATONEMENT for Israel that 'white robes' are worn.  When Judah repents Jesus Christ will reveal Himself to His brothers.

 4:5 And from the throne proceeded lightnings, thunderings, and voices.
         Seven lamps of fire were burning before the throne,
         which are the seven Spirits of God.

A similar event happened with Moses [Exodus 19 & 20; Psalm 77].  In the third month [Sivan:  SHAVUOT / Giving of SPIRIT]   Moses brought the Word of the Lord to the people who agreed to this Word.  So God told Moses to prepare the people and He would  speak with them.

           Exodus 19:16-18  Then it came to pass on the third day,
                     in the morning, that there were thunderings and lightnings,
                     and a thick cloud on the mountain;
                     and the sound of the trumpet was very loud,
                     so that all the people who were in the camp trembled ....
                     Now Mount Sinai was completely in smoke,
                     because the Lord descended upon it in fire.

These type of events are again seen in Jeremiah 51 when the Lord brings destruction upon Babylon.  Verse 6:  'For this is the time of the 'Lord's vengeance'.

4:6 Before the throne there was a sea of glass, like crystal.
        And in the midst of the throne, and around the throne,
        were four living creatures full of eyes in front and in back.

 4:7 The first living creature was like a lion,
          the second living creature like a calf,
          the third living creature had a face like a man,
          and the fourth living creature was like a flying eagle

 4:8   The four living creatures, each having six wings,
          were full of eyes around and within.

         Ezekiel
           1:1   the heavens were opened and I saw visions of God
           1:5   Also from within it came the likeness of four living creatures.
           1:6   Each one had four faces, and each one had four wings
         1:10   As for the likeness of their faces, each had the face of a man';
                   each of the four had the face of a lion on the right side,
                   each of the four had the face of an ox on the left side,
                   and each of the four had the face of an eagle.

4:8 And they do not rest day or night, saying:

               “Holy, holy, holy,
                    Lord God Almighty,
                    Who was and is and is to come!”

4:9 Whenever the living creatures give glory and honor and thanks
         to Him who sits on the throne, who lives forever and ever,

4:10 the twenty-four elders fall down before Him who sits on the throne
             and worship Him who lives forever and ever,
             and cast their crowns before the throne, saying:

4:11 You are worthy, O Lord,
           To receive glory and honor and power;
           For You created all things,
           And by Your will they exist and were created.”
