Five Virgins were - - FOOLISH!

Many Christians are shouting, 'Maranatha, come Lord Jesus COME', but are we really ready? Are you confident that there is oil in your lamp? What is this oil? Might it be 'take up your cross and follow Me? Is it just rolling the Word off our tongue? Doing good deeds? Going to Bible study and spending 'devotional time'? YET (and I am speaking to those of us who consider ourselves 'committed Christians') at the same time, we harbor bitterness and unforgiveness, go for the divorce, remarry, engage in fornication and adultery, drugs and alcohol, and all kinds of extortion to include cheating on our taxes - - without any sign of repentance? These troubles face all of us, but for the 'Christian' our decision must be based on the cross and not our emotions. We would like to justify our sin - - its her, its him, you have no idea what they did to me, I made a mistake. It all may be true - BUT - it is not justification, nor Scriptural. Nor a sign of a virgin with oil in their lamp. Esau made a decision based on his 'carnal appetite' and it cost him his birthright. Our 'carnal appetite' for 'my' life could well cost us our birthright.

Romans 11
21 If God did not spare the natural branches, He may not spare you either.
22 Therefore consider the goodness and severity of God: on those who fell,
... severity; but toward you, goodness, if you continue in His goodness.
... Otherwise you also will be cut off.

Ignorance does not save us from death and hell. 'My people perish for lack of knowledge'. Earth is a temporary assignment in the army of the Lord. A soldier puts away personal desires and obeys commands, otherwise faces a court martial.

2 Timothy 2:4
No one engaged in warfare entangles himself with the affairs of this life,
that he may please him who enlisted him as a soldier.

Sadly, Christians for the most part, are AWOL, which in the army, carries severe consequences. When our time of trouble (darkness) is upon us - - will our oil supply of the Word, our lamp - -be sufficient? When sickness comes, do we have oil? When financial woes comes, do we have oil? When addictions and lusts come, do we have oil? When marital discord comes, do we have oil? When betrayal comes, do we have oil?

Matthew 3:11
I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance, but He who is coming
after me is mightier than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry.
He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.

Rosh ha Shanah is almost upon us - a time for the 'lukewarm' to be renewed unto repentance and a season that we might expect Jesus to return.

God's feasts are everlasting ordinances. They never pass away. How can they? They declare Christ.
Christ was Passover Lamb ON PASSOVER
Christ is unleavened bread - flesh dead on UNLEAVENED BREAD
Christ is firstfruit - FIRSTBORN from the dead on FIRSTFRUIT
Christ is Spirit sending the Holy Spirit on SHAVUOT / PENTECOST [Romans 1:4]
Christ is coronated King (of Jerusalem) - - during Rosh ha Shanah


EXACT TIMING in accordance with the 'everlasting feasts. Do we know the day and the hour?

1 Thessalonians 5
1 But concerning the times and the seasons, brethren,
..you have no need that I should write to you.
2 For you yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord
..so comes as a thief in the night.
3 For when they say, "Peace and safety! " then sudden destruction
..comes upon them, as labor pains upon a pregnant woman.
..And they shall not escape.
4 But you, brethren, are not in darkness, so that this Day
..should overtake you as a thief.
5 You are all sons of light and sons of the day. We are not of
..the night nor of darkness.
6 Therefore let us not sleep, as others do, but let us watch and be sober.

Rosh ha Shanah is a 10 day feast. What day and what hour will Israel repent during this season? The first day, the seventh day, the tenth day? Only the Father knows. But this day does not overtake the WATCHMAN.

Rosh ha Shanah should be a wake up call for the 'sleeping church' - the 'foolish virgins' - - the carnal man, Christian, Jew or Gentile, particularly the Christian who professes 'discipleship'. Discipleship means 'trained, disciplined'.

.... their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom.
..2 Now five of them were wise, and five were foolish.
..3 Those who were foolish took their lamps and took no oil with them,
..4 but the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps.
..5 But while the bridegroom was delayed, they all slumbered and slept.
..6 And at midnight a cry was heard: "Behold, the bridegroom is coming;
.... go out to meet him! '
..7 Then all those virgins arose and trimmed their lamps.
..8 And the foolish said to the wise, "Give us some of your oil,
.... for our lamps are going out.'
..9 But the wise answered, saying, "No, lest there should not be enough for us
....and you; but go rather to those who sell, and buy for yourselves.'
10 And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came, and those who were ready
....went in with him to the wedding; and the door was shut.
11 Afterward the other virgins came also, saying, "Lord, Lord, open to us! '
12 But he answered and said, "Assuredly, I say to you, I do not know you.'
13 Watch therefore, for you know neither the day nor the hour in
....which the Son of Man is coming.


Note that the foolish virgins had 'lamps'. They had the Word, they had their devotions, church services, and Bible studies - - but they had NO OIL in their lamps. Walking the walk is 'oil'.

Matthew 26
36 Then Jesus came with them to a place called GETHSEMANE,
....and said to the disciples, "Sit here while I go and pray over there."
37 And He took with Him Peter and the two sons of Zebedee,
....and He began to be sorrowful and deeply distressed.
38 Then He said to them, "My soul is exceedingly sorrowful, even to death.
....Stay here and watch with Me."
39 He went a little farther and fell on His face, and prayed, saying,
....O My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from Me; nevertheless,
....not as I will, but as You will."
40 Then He came to the disciples and found them asleep, and said to Peter,
...."What? Could you not watch with Me one hour?
41 Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation.
....The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak."

Jesus turned water into wine - - the BEST WINE was served last [144,000 sealed Jews]. These are also 'lamp / oil' stands. Whether first or last, we are called as a disciple, to have OIL, to watch and pray - to overcome.

13 Watch, stand fast in the faith, be brave, be strong.
