JESUS name begins with the 'tenth' letter of the alef-beyt, as does Jehovah, Jerusalem, Israel and Judah. The 'tenth' is holy to the Lord.

Leviticus 27:32
And concerning the tithe of the herd or the flock, of whatever passes under the rod, 
the tenth one shall be holy to the Lord.

The letter YUD y is the 'smallest' letter of the alef-beyt, so like God to use the smallest to accomplish the greatest. YUD / YAD has the meaning of HAND / AUTHORITY. This 'hand' [as opposed to the hand of KAF] relates to chesed / lovingkindness - a hand that is thrust out in friendship, a hand that reaches out to grasp and redeem us, a hand that we are to grasp, and not let go of. By its form it is called 'the crown above, the pathway below' and is known as the 'initial point' - its mark beginning and ending each letter.

The letter SHIN means TEETH and is the symbol of FIRE. As such it also relates to 'grace' as well as * PUNISHMENT. Both TEETH and FIRE are instruments that 'consume' / 'transform'. A tooth is 'sharp' 'piercing' and transforming food in order that it can be 'consumed'. As such it is a form of 'punishment' to be 'ground down'. It becomes 'incisive': cut into. The cross is a form of incisivie punishment. The cross 'cuts' / circumcises - the circumcision of 'faith'. SHIN carries within it the meaning of LEX TALIONIS is the law of retaliation, whereby a punishment resembles the offense committed in kind and degree. This is where 'an eye for eye, a tooth for a tooth' and 'gnashing of teeth' gets its meaning. A tooth is 'sharp' meaning to teach (incisively), to pierce to desire lex talIonis.

VAV, the NAIL - CONNECTS. This letter - this word - is found in Exodus as 'hooks [vavim] that hold the curtains of the tabernacle'. The curtains are seen as 'sheets of light', like the sheets of Scripture, and Christ indeed was the LIGHT that shined in darkness.

Even as Israel was / is in exile our soul / our mind has been in exile to sin and death and in His mercy, His grace, His Divine Providence of the Lamb of God we are bought into the PROMISED LAND. Note the journey TO the 'promised land' is THROUGH the 'wilderness'. The PROMISE is the [rbd] WORD. The 'promised inheritance' IS THE WORD. . Our inheritance HAS BEEN GIVEN to us. The 'journey through the WILDERNESS is the journey through the [m ] WATER - - - - - of the [rbd] WORD. Israel passed through a 'great and high' wall of WATER passing through the RED SEA [see post 76 on 8-16] and drank from the WATER flowing from ROCK [rwc] in the wilderness.

    and scourges on your sides and thorns in your eyes,  
    until you perish from this good land which the LORD your God has given you.
14 Behold, this day I am going the way of all the earth.  And you know in all  
    your hearts and in all your souls that not one thing has failed of all the good  
    things which the LORD your God spoke concerning you. All have come to pass for you;
15 Therefore it shall come to pass, that as all the good things have come upon you  
    which the LORD your God promised [rbd] you, so the LORD will bring upon you all 
     harmful things, until He has destroyed you from this good land which the LORD  
    your God has given you.
16 When you have transgressed the covenant of the LORD your God,  
    which He commanded you, and have gone and served other gods,  
    and bowed down to them, then the anger of the LORD will burn against you,  
    and you shall perish quickly from the good land [ur) ] which He has given you."

Just a thought on verse 7 and 13: You shall not make mention of the name of their gods, nor cause anyone to swearby them; you shall not serve them nor bow down to them - - The 'church' yet retains the 'gods' of Ishtar / Easter and the 'sun god of Christmas'. We not only make mention of them - we celebrate them with all our heart - for the most ignorantly, but nonetheless. Sooner or later this needs to be thought out. It's kind of like being in a marriage - having an adulterous affair - and continually bringing up the name and birthday of the ex-lover and thinking that the 'spouse shouldn't mind that'. Unbelief, unforgiveness, bitterness and anger are just as 'lethal gods' and need to be removed from our lips.

For Israel today, both on a spiritual and physical level, this Scripture still speaks as they are goaded into the 'covenant' of the peace process'. But without Messiah Christ - - there is no peace. When they ask - - He will come. 'Blessed is He who comes in the Name of the Lord'.

A reminder on the issue of 'relationship': the letter BEYT b HOUSE and DALET d DOOR. Communion / COMMUNICATION is 'crux' [cross] of a relationship. The ancient symbol for BEYT is a TENT. Apostles Peter and Paul call our BODY a 'tent' [2 Corinthinans 5; 1Peter 1:13]. The DALET is the 'door of the tent' or 'tent-flap' of the BEYT. Consider this: The BEYT, the 'house' is also known as the WIFE. Thus is said a 'man enters his house'. Considering BEYT as the WIFE, DALET , the DOOR, [Jesus], is the husband. It is HIS Word that is to be on HER tongue that brings 'perfect communion, perfect communication.
That being said, our body being 'our tent' - the door of our tent - our TONGUE - His Word on our tongue becomes 'communion' leading to consummation, the birthing of His Spirit in us.

The wilderness is the only real route to the promised land, led by the water of the Word, the Messiah, the place of the 'water from the Rock, living water, MASHIACH, MESSIAH, CHRST. Recall that EDOM would not grant Israel any provision while passing thru its territory on the way to the 'promised land. Malachi 1:4 Edom is the 'Territory of Wickedness forever'. and as such has no provision to offer, or one that we should desire. I'm looking at Edom from a spiritual aspect [not national]. Scripture tells us that Jacob and Esau were twin brothers born to Isaac [one who mocks / makes sport of / laughs at - death] and Rebekkah [ensnarer / to clog by tying up the fetlock]. Esau [firstborn] sold his birthright and thus Jacob [supplanted / superseded / replaced] him. Jesus Christ, the Word made flesh and dwelt among us, came to the nation of Israel [firstborn]. He made disciples but was rejected in part [as akin to selling birthright] and Jesus then considered as supplanting, and now 'firstborn from the dead'. Jesus / promised [rbd]

MILK is the beginning of learning to dwell in relationship by renewing the MIND to the Word of God. HONEY is the WORD of God on the tongue 'that sticks'. THAT is a relationship of grace and consuming love for Christ and His body - stewardship. And don't forget TORAH - the instruction of the LAW. The 'law of the spirit of life in Christ' delivers us from the 'law of sin and death'. We operate within one law or the other. Can we do away with TORAH?

HEALTH is 'Jesus speaking the mind of God'. HEALTH is the HEAD and MOUTH receiving INSTRUCTION of the WORD of God. HEALTH is the MIND speaking as JESUS speaks, our living example. COMMUNION is the exchange of intimate thoughts and feelings. COMMUNION is COMMUNI - CATION and we must 'communicate' the Word of God to our heart and mind, that our tongue cooperates in speaking. Health - SAVING HEALTH - salvation is the power of marriage - the Lamb and His bride [Revelation 21 - see post 16 / 17 on 6-16] having the power to procreate and bring forth a thousandfold increase. Yet, even though Israel, in part, is prodigal, we (the faithful son) HAVE this relationship in Christ, just as the 'father' told the faithful son. The MIND speaking the Word of God, speaks the mind of its MASTER - CHRIST. The MIND speaking as a WICKED MOUTH speaks the mind of its MASTER - the DEVIL. DISEASE results form the 'evil mouth'.
