LIFE and DEATH 4 of 5

[GREEN: God ... YELLOW: Man ... ORANGE: sin / death / evi... BLUE: Hebrew/Greek]PINK: physical death vs eternal death

Unless we see Hebrews 9:27 as the death [of eternal separation versus sleep/die] of JESUS CHRIST [Son of Man / Son of God] for ALL MEN we tend, even while 'living/awake', to believe 'terminally' instead of 'eternally'. If our thought of 'physical death' is 'terminal', rather than 'sleep', will we pray to 'raise the dead'?

Romans 6:10
For in that HE died, he died unto sin ONCE: but in that he lives, he lives unto God.

Hebrews 9:27-28And as it is appointed unto men ONCE to die, but after this the judgment:So Christ was ONCE offered to bear the sins of many;
and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time
without sin unto salvation.

The Bible appears to make a distinction between DEATH and what we term as physical death' as SLEEP.

Job 7:21
And why do you not pardon my transgression, and take away my iniquity?
for now shall I SLEEP in the dust;
and thou shalt seek me in the morning, but I shall not be.

Psalm 13:3
Consider and hear me, O LORD my God: lighten mine eyes,
lest I sleep [
ישן yashen] the sleep of death [מות maveth] ;

Daniel 12:2
And many of them that SLEEP in the dust of the earth shall awake,
some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt.

John 11:11-14
These things said he: and after that he saith unto them,
Our friend Lazarus sleeps [
κοιμαω koimao: sleep, die];
but I go, that I may awake him out of sleep
[
εξυπνιζω exupnizo: awaken out of sleep].

Then said Jesus unto them plainly,
Lazarus is dead [
αποθνησκω apothnesko: natural death].

'Physical / natural death' for the believer is as 'sleep', not the 'sleep of DEATH', but an awakening to the reality of the everlasting kingdom of God.

DEATH and LIFE, according to the Word [Proverbs 18:21], are in the power of the tongue:

Philippians 2:11-16
That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of
things in heaven,
and
things in earth, and things under the earth;
And
that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord,
to the glory of God the Father .... ...
Holding forth the word of life; that I may rejoice in the day of Christ,
that I have not run in vain, neither laboured in vain.

for the believer
law-shone'

[Luke 6:45] The words that roll off of our TONGUE come from the HEART. We need to listen to our own thoughts that are given voice by our own mouth. Are they 'By His stripes I have been / am healed? Jesus Christ, the author and finisher of my 'faith'? Is 'faith' in sickness or health, death or life? Have we accepted death as a 'natural outcome' or do we believe God wishes us to be as Lazarus and fight the fight of faith that we have a testimony that the world can not ignore and win souls to Christ? We should take note of our own confession - our communication - our communion. Do we yet worship God (speak truth as did David did) in our distress? Do we take our stewardship of the Word seriously?

1Corinthians 11:23-32
For I received from the Lord that which I also delivered to you:
that the Lord Jesus on the same night in which He was betrayed took bread;

and when He had given thanks, He broke it and said, "Take, eat;
this is My body which is broken for you; do this in remembrance of Me."

In the same manner He also took the cup after supper, saying,
"This cup is the new covenant in My blood.
This do, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me."

For as often as you eat this bread and drink this cup,

you proclaim
the Lord's death [
θανατος thanatos
the loss of that life which alone is worthy of the name,
that separation (whether natural or violent) of the soul and the body
by which the life on earth is ended
with the implied idea of future misery in hell
the power of death
the miserable state of the wicked dead

till He comes.
Therefore whoever eats this bread or drinks this cup of the Lord
in an unworthy manner will be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord.

But let a man examine himself,
and so let him eat of the bread and drink of the cup.

For he who eats and drinks in an unworthy manner
eats and drinks judgment to himself, not discerning the Lord's body.

For this reason many are weak and sick among you,
and many sleep
[κοιμαω koimao: sleep, die]; .
For if we would judge ourselves, we would not be judged.

But when we are judged, we are chastened by the Lord,
that we may not be condemned with the world.

We proclaim the LORD'S DEATH. If God be the 'same yesterday, today and forever' [Hebrews 13:8] and it is appointed for man / men to die once, and then the judgment [Hebrews 9:27], and God is 'no respecter of persons' [Acts 10:34], then one needs to ponder Enoch and Elijah who did not suffer death. And also those who will be alive and remain at the time of his coming [1 Thessalonians 4:15-17]. Note also this passage refers to the 'dead' as those who are 'asleep' / dead - but not dead.
The Word speaks of 'our death' in this context - that in Jesus Christ - we have ALREADY PASSED through death and that as we abide in Christ we abide in eternal life - even as our natural body will undergo 'sleep'.

John 5:24
Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word,
 and believes on him that sent me, hath everlasting life,
and shall not come into condemnation;
but is passed from death unto life.

  Romans 5:12
Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin;
and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:

Romans 6:3-4 Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized
 into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?
Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death:
that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father
  even so we also should walk in newness of life.

Romans 8:11
But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus
from the dead dwell in you
,
he that raised up Christ from the dead
shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwells in you.

1John 3:14
We know that we have passed from death unto life,
because we love the brethren.
He that loves not his brother abides in death.
He that does not love his brother - Jesus Christ - and the brethren - abides in death.

Our TONGUE is to confess the testimony of JESUS CHRIST, His DEATH and RESURRECTION LIFE.

Continued one more time

Selah,
Shalom!
