The Bondage of Egypt

You often hear that people desire to be released from the 'bondage of the law'. Yet Scripture never presents bondage as being 'to the law' but instead to 'Egypt'. The law is called 'holy, spiritual, a tutor' to bring us to Christ. Bondage is particularly to Egypt, sin and death, corruption, and the beggardly elements of the world. Israel cried out because of BONDAGE and God heard their cry:

BONDAGE IS OF EGYPT
TO SIN & DEATH

NOT TO THE LAW

BONDAGE tells a story
BONDAGE
is to ‘sin and death’:
BONDAGE: ‘ABODAH’ from its root:

.........................................DALET................... BEYT.................... AYIN
..............................................d.......................... b......................... (

.......................................LIFE & DEATH

.........................................TONGUE................. WIFE.................. EYE

..................................................................GOD'S ANTIDOTE:

.........................................TONGUE............RELATIONSHIP...... SHEEP

Adam's WIFE looked looked at the tree. It was pleasant to the EYES. She SPOKE with the serpent knowing 'life and death' was at stake. 'You will surely die'. BONDAGE is to ‘sin and death’.

Genesis 3
2 and the woman said to the serpent, "We may eat the fruit of the trees of the garden;
3 but of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God has said,
.."You shall not eat it, nor shall you touch it, lest you die.'"
4 Then the serpent said to the woman, "You will not surely die.
5 For God knows that in the day you eat of it your your will be opened,
..and you will be like God, knowing good and evil."
6 So when the woman [Adam’s wife] saw that the tree was good for food,
..that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree desirable to make one wise,
..She took of its fruit and ate.

Egypt is known for its Pharaoh's. Pharaoh was known as the 'evil mouth' ruler of Egypt: distress: the bondage of Egypt:

The following are the Scriptures that relate to BONDAGE:

Exodus 1:13
So the Egyptians made the children of Israel serve with rigor.
And they made their lives bitter with hard bondage...

Exodus 2:23
Now it happened in the process of time that the king of Egypt died.
Then the children of Israel groaned because of the bondage, and they
cried out; and their cry came up to God because of the bondage.

Exodus 6
5 And I have also heard the groaning of the children of Israel whom the
....Egyptians keep in bondage, and I have remembered My covenant.
6 Therefore say to the children of Israel: 'I am the Lord; I will bring you out
...from under the burdens of the Egyptians, I will rescue you from their bondage,
...and I will redeem you with an outstretched arm and with great judgments.
9 So Moses spoke thus to the children of Israel; but they
...did not heed Moses, because of anguish of spirit and cruel bondage.

Exodus 13
13 And Moses said to the people: "Remember this day in which you went
...out of Egypt, out of the house of bondage; for by strength of hand the
...Lord brought you out of this place. No leavened bread shall be eaten.
14 So it shall be, when your son asks you in time to come, saying,
...'What is this?' that you shall say to him, 'By strength of hand the Lord
...brought us out of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.

Exodus 20:2

5 ...who brought you out of the land of Egypt
...and redeemed you from the house of bondage,
...to entice you from the way in which the Lord your God
...[Remember Genesis 3 - the woman and the serpent]
...commanded you to walk. So you shall put away the evil
...from your midst.
10 ... because he sought to entice you away from the Lord your God,
...
who brought you out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage.

But the Egyptians mistreated us, afflicted us, and laid hard bondage on us.

Joshua 24:17
for the Lord our God is He who brought us and our fathers up out of the
land of Egypt, from the house of bondage, who did those great signs in
our sight, and preserved us in all the way that we went and among all
the people through whom we passed.

Judges 6:8
that the Lord sent a prophet to the children of Israel, who said to them,
Thus says the Lord God of Israel: 'I brought you up from Egypt and brought you out
of the house of bondage;

Ezra 9:
8 And now for a little while grace has been shown from the Lord our God, to
..leave us a remnant to escape, and to give us a peg in His holy place, that our
..God may enlighten our eyes and give us a measure of revival in our bondage.
9 For we were slaves. Yet our God did not forsake us in our bondage; but He
..extended mercy to us in the sight of the kings of Persia [pure], to revive us,
..to repair the house of our God, to rebuild its ruins, and to give us a wall in
.
.Judah and Jerusalem.

Nehemiah 5:18
Now that which was prepared daily was one ox and six choice
sheep. Also fowl were prepared for me, and once every ten days an abundance of
all kinds of wine. Yet in spite of this I did not demand the governor's provisions,
because the bondage was heavy on this people.

Nehemiah 9:17
They refused to obey, And they were not mindful of Your wonders
That You did among them. But they hardened their necks, And in their rebellion
they appointed a leader to return to their bondage. But You are God, ready to
pardon, gracious and merciful, Slow to anger, abundant in kindness, and did not
forsake them.

Isaiah 14:3 It shall come to pass in the day the Lord gives you rest from your
sorrow, and from your fear and the hard bondage
in which you were made to serve,

Jeremiah 34:9
..9 that every man should set free his male and female slave--a Hebrew
.....man or woman--that no one should keep a Jewish brother in bondage.
10 Now when all the princes and all the people, who had entered into the
.....covenant, heard that everyone should set free his male and female slaves, that
.....no one should keep them in bondage anymore, they obeyed and let them go..
13 Thus says the Lord, the God of Israel: 'I made a covenant with your fathers in

Romans 8
15 For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear,
.....but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, "Abba, Father."

into the glorious liberty of the children of God.

1Corinthians 7:15
But if the unbeliever departs, let him depart; a brother or a sister
is not under bondage in such cases. But God has called us to peace.

2Corinthians 11
16 I say again, let no one think me a fool. If otherwise,
....
at least receive me as a fool, that I also may boast a little.
17 What I speak, I speak not according to the Lord, but as it were,
....foolishly, in this confidence of boasting.
18 Seeing that many boast according to the flesh, I also will boast.
19 For you put up with fools gladly, since you yourselves are wise!
20 For you put up with it if one brings you into bondage, if one devours you,
....if one takes from you, if one exalts himself, if one strikes you on the face.
21 To our shame I say that we were too weak for that!
....But in whatever anyone is bold I speak foolishly I am bold also.

Galatians 2:4
And this occurred because of false brethren secretly brought in (who

..were in BONDAGE UNDER THE ELEMENTS OF THE WORLD.
9 But now after you have known God, or rather are known by God, how is it
..that you turn again to the WEAK AND BEGGARLY ELEMENTS, to which
..YOU DESIRE AGAIN TO BE IN BONDAGE?*

Remember the sin of the golden calf - the desire to return to Egypt.

25 For this HAGAR [flight] IS Mount Sinai [thorny]
....in ARABIA [BARRENNESS / STERILITY, DARKNESS],
