Revelation, Biblical Feasts and ................... Hebrew thought - - - Revelation 1

I am again  going thru the book of Revelation – so am sharing some of my study insights for those who are interested.  Will take a chapter a day looking at  the celebration of God’s feasts as critical to understanding ‘the message’.  The church's adoption and celebration of  ‘pagan feasts’, to the point of ignoring, or being unaware of God's biblical feasts,  has stunted kingdom growth for many.

ALEF

The letter ALEF means OX. An ox is known for its strength and its ‘submission to the yoke’.

ALEF is the expression of:

1.  Jehovah [Jesus]

2.  submission to God’s Word [the yoke of the OX].

3. ‘higher and lower waters’:

      alef's form of
         YUD                                                             VAV                                                    YUD

      two yuds (hands),
      separated by a vav (nail),
is said to be the depiction of  the ‘waters (wisdom)’ above
and the waters (wisdom) below .

Yud, which means hand, indicates the ‘will of God’. A King need only ‘raise his hand for his will to be carried out.

Vav is known as the letter of the ‘upright man’ or ‘straight light’. Jesus is the light (John 8:12) and ‘upright man (his position on the cross / John 12:30-33)’

The Ten Commandments, the  Divine revelation to the Jewish People at Sinai, begin with the letter alef:     "Anochi [I] am God your God who has taken you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage

Numerically ALEF is the first number 1.  It is also the ‘last number – 1000’.  ‘One is as ‘a thousand’.  ‘One’ brings the ‘thousand-fold’ increase.

With that in mind - a look at Revelation 1:

Feast:  PASSOVER

Letter:  ALEF

1:1  The revelation of Jesus Christ
1:5  and from Jesus Christ, the faithful witness,
        the firstborn from the dead,
and the ruler over the kings of the earth.
To Him who loved us and washed us from our sins in His own blood
1:8 “I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End,”
says the Lord, “who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.”
1:11 saying, “I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last,”

Exodus 12:11  And thus you shall eat it: with a belt on your WAIST,
your sandals on your FEET, and your staff in your HAND.
So you shall eat it in haste. It is the Lord’s Passover.

1:13-20  and in the midst of the seven lampstands

One like the Son of Man,
clothed with a garment down to the feet
and girded about the chest with a

golden band: zone {dzo'-nay}  a girdle, belt
His head and hair were white like wool, as white as snow,
                and His eyes like a flame of fire;
His feet were like fine brass, as if refined in a furnace (place of ‘baking bread’),
                and His voice as the sound of many waters;
He had in His right hand seven stars,
out of His mouth went a sharp two-edged sword,
and His countenance was like the sun shining in its strength.
And when I saw Him, I fell at His feet as dead.
But He laid His right hand on me, saying to me,
“Do not be afraid; I am the First and the Last.

I am He who lives, and was dead, and behold,
                I am alive forevermore.

One other thing to note:  The biblical calendar and the Jewish civil calendar tend to ‘mirror’ each other.

Passover is the 1st month (Aviv / Nisan) biblically.
On the civil calendar, it is the ‘7th  month’
And vice versa:  the civil calendar 1st month / Tishrei’ is as the ‘7th’month.

In that light you see two things paralleling here:

1:4  to the seven churches in Asia
1:1 0 I was in the Spirit on the Lord’s Day
          (Yom Teruah / Rosh ha Shanah / Trumpets / 7th month (days 1 thru 10) ,
and I heard behind me a loud voice, as of a trumpet,
1:11 to the seven churches in Asia

1:12 Then I turned to see the voice that spoke with me.

And having turned I saw seven golden lampstands,
1:13 and in the midst of the seven lampstands One like the Son of Man
1:19 Write
     (1) the things which you have seen,
     (2)  and the things which are,
     (3) and the things which will take place after this.

1:20 The mystery of the seven stars which you saw in My right hand,
          and the seven golden lampstands:
The seven stars are the angels of the seven churches,
and the seven lampstands which you saw are the seven churches.

Revelation 2, the letter BEYT which means ‘house’ indicates ‘family relationship’
God’s ‘2nd feast’, the ‘feast of unleavened bread’,  will become  evident .

Taking it slow - - Continued next post.
