LIFE and DEATH 5 of 5

[GREEN: God ... YELLOW: Man ... ORANGE: sin / death / evi... BLUE: Hebrew/Greek]PINK: physical death vs eternal death
Genesis 1:1
In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.

This beginning Word verifies the existence and presence of LIFE, a 'beginning LIFE', before that of the creation of the heavens and earth - -the LIFE of the creator. The next 'hint of LIFE' is found concealed in 'darkness upon the face' of the deep:

Genesis 1:2
Now the earth was unformed and void,
and darkness was upon the face of the deep';
וְחֹשֶׁךְ, עַל-פְּנֵי
and the spirit of God hovered over the face of the waters.וְרוּחַ אֱלֹהִים

Between the 'elements of life', or in the 'progression of life' וְחֹשֶׁךְ, עַל-פְּנֵי we see. : 'שֶׁךְ fire and cloud', עַל the eye of the Good Shepherd and His staff, פְּנֵ the 'mouth (having the power of curse or blessing) of the Kingdom Heir' - an apt description of Israel's deliverance from Egypt led by Christ [1Corinthians 10:4]

This progression allows us to see the 'Spirit of God', author of LIFE. Seen 'within the life of the Spirit of God' is
אֱלֹהִ , a word meaning 'oath of the covenant'; also to be put under oath or curse. Jesus Christ, our high priest, experienced both: Hebrews 6 & 7; Galatians 3:13. אֱלֹהִ is also defined as terebinth / Palestinian Pistacia terebinthus [turpentine tree; producing irritant properties], oak [mighty, strong, even solitary], or teil [lime (for its acid)] tree, and it is the name of the valley where David [the beloved] killed the giant Goliath [exile]. Jesus, God's beloved Son defeated the exile of death.

DEATH is also hidden in the beginning of creation [Genesis1:1] מַיִם, וְאֵת.
DEATH is hidden in 'heaven and' but stops short of 'earth'. What comes 'in between death' conceals and reveals 'death's defeat': יִם a word that reveals the 'sea' from its 'roar', the letters revealing God's ' יִ hand [His will] - ם Messiah, אֵ Jehovah/Jesus. The sea's roar is met with the Lion of Judah's roar.

Death is openly revealed to Adam in
Genesis 2:17 - 'you shall surely die'

CURSE or BLESSING

This word was spoken to Adam, but also holds an admonition to Adam of woman yet to be formed. Woman's appearance mercifully is in verse 22 / TAV the cross / God's seal of loving protection. The story of Adam and Eve gives depth to the relationship of Christ [the second man Adam, 1 Corinthians 15:47] and his wife, the Holy Jerusalem [Revelation 21], as the life-giver. Adam [Jehovah's blood] and Eve [live-giver] first brought forth Cain and Abel [possessing breath]. But Cain [possession also 'lance / spear'] killed Abel [breath / man of spirit.] 'Life-giver' continues the line of Messiah Jesus Christ through Seth [compensation / appointing], through Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob [the exalted Father, the Father of a multitude, laughing (at death), supplanting death (with life)]. The Lamb's wife, the holy Jerusalem as 'life-giver' gave life (birth) to her Messiah. Jerusalem, through Pontius Pilate [of the sea, armed with a spear], thinks to kill the Messiah [the breath / Spirit of LIfe], but the Father of glory [Romans 6:4, 8:11] raises Him from the dead, LIFE triumphing over DEATH.

In Genesis 3:6 the 'sin of unbelief' loosed death on earth. So too the sin of unbelief [John 16:9] came full circle in the death of Jesus Christ.

Of sin, because they believe not on me;
The 'sting' of DEATH is sin:

1Corinthians 15:56
The sting of death is sin ..

κεντρον kentron {ken'-tron} from kenteo (to prick); TDNT - 3:663,427; n n AV - sting 3, prick 2; 5 1) a sting, as that of bees, scorpions, locusts. Since animals wound by their sting and even cause death, Paul attributes death, personified as a sting, i.e. a deadly weapon 2) an iron goad, for urging on oxen, horses and other beasts of burden 2a) hence the proverb, Vto kick against the goadV, i.e. to offer vain and perilous or ruinous resistance.

Both LIFE and DEATH [spiritual death not natural death/sleep] are reality for every human being, DEATH because of sin [1Corinthians 15:56] - the sting of death is sin.

In the natural it could be said that there are 'double doors': we enter through the door of life and exit through the door of death / sleep. David's name 'beloved' reveals 'double doors' - dwd, Isaiah 45 gives picture to this. The Word of the Lord to Cyrus [possess thou the furnace] confirms that God will 'loose the armor of kings [suggestive of powers and principalities in high places], open the double doors that they not be shut and give him the treasures of darkness. This happened for mankind when God's 'beloved Son, Jesus Christ died on the cross, making a spectacle of the powers and principalities in high places [Colossians 2:15], Jesus now having the keys to death and hell [Revelation 1:18].

In the supernatural [heavenly realm], 'life and death' [curse and blessing] are in the power of the tongue [speech]. When the Word was made flesh [John 1:1-14] Jesus revealed Himself as 'the DOOR' [John 10], the LIFE [John 14:6]. God's DOOR has always been in the midst of Adam, as well as Edom, and also in Eden. DALET makes its first appearance (appropriately literally and numerically) in Genesis
1:4 in dividing [ldb] the light from the darkness.

MAN / ADAM
EDOM
[territory of wickedness]

Adam lived 930 years - 70 years short of a thousand - dying 'in that day'.
Israel was exiled to Babylon for 70 [AYIN] years.

2 Peter 3:8-9
But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing,
that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years,
and a
thousand years as one day.
The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness;
but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish,
but that all should come to repentance.

EDEN

Psalm 79:11
Let the groaning of the prisoner come before You;
According to the greatness of Your power
Preserve those who are appointed to die;

Psalm 102:19-21
For He looked down from the height of His sanctuary;
from heaven the Lord viewed the earth,
to hear the groaning of the prisoner,
to release those appointed to death,

to declare the name of the Lord in Zion, and His praise in Jerusalem ...

When Hebrews 9 is read in context, this chapter speaks of the 'man Christ' [John 19:5] appointed to die once - preserving and releasing those who WERE appointed to death. Jesus Christ, righteous and without sin, received sin's penalty, death and judgment satisfying the death and judgment of each man. And God's judgment was 'grace': in favor of Jesus Christ, and thus in favor of eternal life for all man(kind).

Hebrews 9:27

And as it is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment,
so Christ was offered once to bear the sins of many.
To those who eagerly wait for Him He will appear a second time,
apart from sin, for salvation.

Men's appointment to death was answered by Jesus Christ. For those who receive the fulfillment receiving Christ in baptism have passed from death to life [Romans 5:24; 6:3-4]. Consider Enoch and / or Elijah who were not taken in death? Enoch pleased God and was translated. We too, in Christ, HAVE ALREADY BEEN TRANSLATED.

Hebrews 11:5
By faith Enoch was translated that he should not see death;
and was not found, because God had
translated him:
for before his translation he had this testimony, that he pleased God.

Colossians 1:12-13
Giving thanks to the Father who has qualified us to be partakers
of the inheritance of the saints in the light.

He has delivered us from the power of darkness
and translated us into the kingdom of the Son of His love

Note - Enoch did not die/sleep, God was pleased with him and took him. Elijah did not die/sleep

2Kings 2:11
... that suddenly a chariot of fire appeared with horses of fire,
and separated the two of them; and Elijah went up by a whirlwind into heaven.

We shall not all sleep / die.

1 Corinthians 15:51
Behold, I shew you a mystery;
WE SHALL NOT ALL SLEEP,
κοιμαω koimao
but we shall all be changed ...
κοιμαω koimao 1) to cause to sleep, put to sleep 2) metaph. 2a) to still, calm, quiet 2b) to fall asleep, to sleep 2c) to die

Romans 5:14
Nevertheless death thanatos reigned from Adam to Moses [Passover],
even over them that had not sinned after the similitude of Adam's transgression,
who is the figure [crucifixion] of him that was to come.

1Corinthians 15:22
For as in Adam all die αποθνησκω apothnesko {ap-oth-nace'-ko},
even so in Christ shall all be made alive.

αποθνησκω apothnesko {ap-oth-nace'-ko}: be at the point of death 1) to die 1a) of the natural death of man 1b) of the violent death of man or animals 1c) to perish by means of something 1d) of trees which dry up, of seeds which rot when planted 1e) of eternal death, to be subject to eternal misery in hell

Hebrews 9:27 tells us our High Priest, Jesus Christ, paid the penalty of sin - Himself having no sin, yet suffering DEATH. He was resurrected from the dead by the Father of glory [Romans 6:4; 8:11], seen by more than 500 witnesses [1Corinthians 15:6] - - that those who [Romans 10:9] confess with their mouth (tongue) and believe in their heart that God raised him from the dead - may receive eternal life.

Romans 10:9
That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus,
and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead,
thou shalt be saved.

Those who do not receive HIM who IS life, remain subject to DEATH itself. Life and death are not 'ethereal transitions', both involve the 'Person of Christ' or the 'personification of Satan'. Eternal life is not a 'what' but 'WHO' .

John 5:39
You search the Scriptures, for in them you think you have eternal life;
and these are they which testify of Me.

We will not ALL DIE / SLEEP, but we will ALL be CHANGED

Selah
Shalom!
