Well - nobody's PERFECT!

There are a lot of 'necessity-made' carpenters in Alaska furiously trying to get a home together before winter sets in. I had a neighbor who had adequate shelter, but embarked on a journey into the 'unknown' doing his plumbing and electric, an upgrade from his outdoor privy, which at 40-60 below zero can be a little breezy. Although the pace with which one moves at those temps can work up a little heat. He 'studied up', and being a gifted draftsman, he even drew a schematic before 'making the trip' 200 miles down the road for the needed supplies. A sense of humor, he liked to 'feel the part', so he'd wear his hard hat equipped with a 'miner's' light, of course his new tool belt, with some special quirky gadget that caught his fancy while at the hardware store, all while announcing 'we do perfect work'.

God says, Genesis 6, that Noah was 'perfect' in his generations. God gave Noah a schematic to build an ark with exact dimensions. He gave Moses a schematic to build a tabernacle, with exact dimensions. Solomon's temple, yes with exact dimensions. When we read the latter half of Ezekiel, another building project, and again - - exact dimensions. You see, God does 'perfect work'.

Deuteronomy 32:4
He is the Rock, His work is perfect; for all His ways are justice,
A God of truth and without injustice; righteous and upright is He.

2 Samuel 22:31
As for God, His way is perfect; the word of the Lord is proven;
He is a shield to all who trust in Him.

Hebrews 2:10
For it was fitting for Him, for whom are all things and by whom are
all things, in bringing many sons to glory, to make the captain of their
salvation
perfect through sufferings.'

PERFECTION first reveals the [yesterday / beginning] cross [identity] of Messiah, this [today / middle] same Messiah exalted to the right hand of power, this [forever / end] same Messiah to 'come again' in 'complete closure'.

Perfection further reveals the Messiah sealed in the wisdom and authority of God.

God's will for the 'Christian' IS 'perfection' - to be 'complete' in Christ - THIS SIDE of heaven - 'on earth, as it is in heaven'. He has given us a 'schematic' - exact dimension - Jesus Christ. To be 'perfect' is to have the 'heart for God' that Jesus had.

complete, whole, entire, sound
  1. complete, whole, entire
  2. whole, sound, healthful
  3. complete, entire (of time)
  4. sound, wholesome, unimpaired, innocent, having integrity
  5. what is complete or entirely in accord with truth and fact (neuter adj/subst)
to be complete, be finished, be at an end

  5. (Hithpael) to deal in integrity, act uprightly
To be perfect is to walk in the Spirit, that we don't fulfil the lusts of the flesh:

Galatians 5
19 Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are:
... adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness,

20 idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath,
... selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies,
21 envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell
... you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those
... who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.

To be perfect is to come to an end of sin, to turn to the Word, repent (turn back) from sin. To continue in sin, without repentance, is rebellion.

Ezekiel 28:12-15
"Son of man, take up a lamentation for the king of Tyre [the rock],
and say to him, 'Thus says the Lord God: "You were the seal of perfection,
full of wisdom and perfect in beauty ... You were perfect in your ways
from the day you were created, till iniquity [wickedness, idolatry
to bow the knee to images (imaginations), unhealthful practice]
was found in you.

1 Corinthians 5 tells us that we are to 'cast down vain imaginations and anything that exalts itself against God and take our thoughts captive to the Word of God. Vain imagination for Israel is to stop acting in a VAIN IMAGE as a NATION. Vain imagination on a personal level is to is to 'show a lack of respect for the image that God created us in, to deny Christ in us 'experientially', possibly honoring God with our lips, but our life is out of His order. A vain imagination pursues personal desires / relationships that don't line up with the Word of God. We should be 'necessity-made' Christians furiously trying to get together a relationship with Christ 'before the fall / winter feasts' sets in, the Day of Judgment and the final abiding, the 'real deal' and not a dress rehearsal.

For disciples 'perfection' is a 'water of the Word' identity - a 'witness' of the Word of God - seen 'walking in truth'.

God calls us to 'perfect work' to lay aside the sin / sins that so easily beset us. WE should be announcing, 'We do perfect work.

Genesis 17:1
And when Abram was ninety years old and nine, the LORD appeared to Abram,
and said unto him, I am the Almighty God, walk before me, and be thou perfect.

Psalm 101:2
I will behave wisely in a perfect way. Oh, when will You come to me?
I will walk within my house with a perfect heart.

Matthew 5:43-48
43 You have heard that it was said,
... 'You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.'
44
But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you,
... do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who
... spitefully use you and persecute you,
45 that you may be sons of your Father in heaven; for He makes
... His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on
... the just and on the unjust.
46 For if you love those who love you, what reward have you?
... Do not even the tax collectors do the same?
47 And if you greet your brethren only, what do you do more
... than others? Do not even the tax collectors do so?
48 Therefore you shall be perfect, just as your Father in heaven is perfect.

Matthew 19:21
Jesus said to him, "If you want to be perfect, go, sell what you have
and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come,
follow Me."

..... 2 Samuel 22:33
..... God is my strength and power, and He makes my way perfect.

..... Psalms 18:32

..... It is God who arms me with strength, and makes my way perfect.

Romans 12:2
And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the
renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and
acceptable and perfect will of God.

Ephesians 4
11 And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some
... evangelists, and some pastors and teachers,
12 for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the
... edifying of the body of Christ,
13 till we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge
... of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the
... stature of the fullness of Christ;
14 that we should no longer be children, tossed to and fro and carried
... about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in the
... cunning craftiness of deceitful plotting,
15 but, speaking the truth in love, may grow up in all things into Him
... who is the head--Christ--
16 from whom the whole body, joined and knit together by what every
... joint supplies, according to the effective working by which every
... part does its share, causes growth of the body for the edifying of itself in love.

Colossians 1:28
Him we preach, warning every man and teaching every man in all wisdom,
that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus.

Colossians 4:12
Epaphras [lovely], who is one of you, a bondservant of Christ, greets you,
always laboring fervently for you in prayers, that you may stand perfect
and complete in all the will of God

James 1:4
But let patience have its perfect work,
that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing.

Patience:
the characteristic of a man who is not swerved from his deliberate purpose
and his loyalty to faith and piety by even the greatest trials and sufferings

James 1:25
But he who looks into the perfect law of liberty and continues in it,
and is not a forgetful hearer but a doer of the work,
this one will be blessed in what he does.

James 3:2
For we all stumble in many things. If anyone does not stumble in word,
he is a perfect man, able also to bridle the whole body.

1 Peter 5:10
But may the God of all grace, who called us to His eternal glory by
Christ Jesus, after you have suffered a while, perfect,
establish, strengthen, and settle you.

1 John 4:18
There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear
involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love.

Too often we hear, 'Well, nobody is perfect, I am only human', yet God says we are 'spirit' and that we can only worship Him in 'spirit and truth'. Spirit: πνεῦμα pneuma: the power by which the human being feels, thinks, decides; the nature of Christ.' And truth: ἀλήθεια aletheia: personal excellence; candour (whiteness) of mind which is free from affection, pretence, simulation, falsehood, deceit.

'God knows' I will never be perfect this side of heaven. Why it is just not possible: ALL things are possible with God. Perfection / completion is possible and commanded.

He'll just have to forgive me. God does forgive human weakness and failing BUT 'go your way and sin no more. In patience, possess your soul:

Patience:
the characteristic of a man who is not swerved from his deliberate purpose
and his loyalty to faith and piety by even the greatest trials and sufferings

Revelation 3
1 I know your works, that you have a name that you are alive, but you are dead.

2 Be watchful, and strengthen the things which remain, that are ready to die,
.. for I have not found your works perfect before God.
3 Remember therefore how you have received and heard; hold fast and repent.
.. Therefore if you will not watch, I will come upon you as a thief,
.. and you will not know what hour I will come upon you.
4 You have a few names even in Sardis [red ones]*
.. [* Sardis, capital of Lydia [travail]
.. who have not defiled their garments;
.. and they shall walk with Me in white, for they are worthy.
5 He who overcomes shall be clothed in white garments,
.. and I will not blot out his name from the Book of Life;
.. but I will confess his name before My Father and before His angels.

Do we still want that relationship that is not 'integrity' or do we want Christ?

Galatians 5:24
And those who are Christ's have crucified the flesh
with its passions and desires.

Isaiah 26:3
You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You,
because he trusts in You.
