Simply looking at the gospels, the epistles and the Book of Revelation, we see the 'church' headed in a 'heavenly' direction'. The church 'ekklesia' is the 'called out'. CALLED OUT of WHAT you may ask?
Abraham was called out of Ur of Chaldees (the light (wisdom) of the clod (earth / clay)-breakers) to go to the land of Canaan (being in subjection; bending the knee). A clod is termed as a 'lump of earth, a lump of clay.' A clod is also known as a 'stupid person'. Abram was called to come away from the 'wisdom of stupid (foolish) people'.

Being called to go to Canaan, Abram was called to go to a place of life yet 'unseen'. There he would find [Galatians 3:16; 3:29] the 'SEED' the one who is 'prolific': able to produce many offspring. Abram's [exalted father] name was changed to Abraham [father of a multitude ] to reflect that change. God cut a covenant with Abram to forever watch over his descendants for their good. God is prolific - pro-life - watching over His offspring. To sustain life one must suppress their evil inclinations / tongue (of worldly wisdom). The 'tongue' is the procreative force of the spirit:
James 3:6
And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity. The tongue is so set among our
members that it defiles the whole body, and sets on fire the course of nature;
and it is set on fire by hell.

In one of the Babylonian creation stories, the original beings were Apsu, Mommu, and Tiamat. From them came the demons and the gods. The gods were Lakhmu, Lakhame, Ashar, Kishar, Anu, Ea, and others. Tiamat became a power of evil and Ea and followers, a power of good. This is the version on Ashurbaipal's library's Creation from about 650 B.C. The Babylonian gods present of picture of 'primeval chaos' who births the 'sky god'. We find serpents at the core who claim to be 'father sky / mother earth, forming a 'god' a 'great triad', said to be fashioning humans from clay and fashioning humans from 'Kingu's / unskilled laborer' blood. We see the sun god and the moon god. Note they make they moon who reflects the light of the sun - as the 'father' of the sun.

Apostasy is easy to spot - - we open our mouths - and our words testify whose wedding ring we are wearing. The world starts its year in January, the god Janus, (the door) celebrating 'Father Time' with an alcoholic feast. Yet the Word tells us that 'Jesus is the door' of the sheep.' On God's calendar this is the time of Chanukah / discipleship, rededicating our life to God. February heralds Valentines Day in which the the Roman god Cupid, god of desire and erotic love is exalted. On God's calendar He is looking for the 'fruit of righteousness'. March is for Mars, the god of War, and when our eyes should be on Purim purifying our hearts as Esther did. April is the celebration of 'Mother Earth', while on God's calendar the Lamb of God is being sacrificed. The world celebrates the feast of Ishtar, the goddess of love and war, rather than the resurrection of Christ from the dead. The church has not yet torn down this high place yet entrenched in many of the 'traditions' of Ishtar's feast. In May, in Roman mythology, Bona Dea (literally "the good goddess") was the goddess of fertility, healing, virginity, and women - thus 'Mother's Day'. In June the summer solstice and Father's Day are celebrated, not to God, but to the glory of mankind. Yet in God's timing it is the time of the Holy Spirit. July and August the world is at leisure yet these months were the months of the golden calf and the destruction of the temples. September the world is embarking on 'education' while God's calendar signals his trumpet for his soon return. In October the world is celebrating death, when God's feasts extends the hand of repentance and abiding in Him. In November we stuff our selves in 'thanksgiving' yet this was a time when the world was under flood waters and we finish the year 'worshiping the rise of sun god' and celebrate Christmas, in great delusion, calling it God's feast, when in reality there is no connection.
And then we wonder 'why' God seems elusive? Why we are not healed? Why the world is yet in chaos? Might it be the wisdom of a foolish people 'called out', but not seeing Canaan? Not seeing Christ? Not seeing the apostles? Not seeing the Word?
