Matthew 28:19
Go therefore and make DISCIPLES of all the nations, baptizing them
in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit ...
A disciple, ' μαθητεύω mathēteuō', is one who 'follows the instructions'.
..................One who is 'trained, disciplined' [jnx] .
The word for 'trained, disciplined' jnx is the same word as 'Enoch'. Enoch was translated, not seeing death, because 'he pleased God'. God approved of his 'discipleship', his love of God in those things that 'please God'.

The word FORGIVENESS depicts an extended arm pointing back to the 'chuppa', the wedding canopy, a hand, a heart, and a wedding ring, as if to say to the 'married', 'Remember your vow of 'love': For better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, til DEATH do us part.' The creative force of the 'spoken word' does not return void. I'll be the first one to tell you that being married hasn't always been a joyful experience and sometimes it has been downright painful. But just as joy can dissipate, pain can heal and THAT joy is one that can not be moved. Luke means 'light-giving'. In Luke 11 Jesus teaches the apostles to pray followed by a warning that a 'house divided can not stand', followed by a warning of an unclean spirit that will seek to return - seven times stronger. How much more a marriage that was in Christ, now challenged by the spirit of immorality.
Luke 11:28 But He said, "More than that, blessed are those
who hear the word of God and keep it! "
Luke 12 begins with a warning, 'beware of hypocrisy': the practice of claiming to have moral standards or beliefs to which one's own behavior does not conform; pretense. How much more a 'Christian' to examine our life in the light of God's Word, not for condemnation in our hypocrisy, but for God to hear our heart cry of 'JESUS HELP'. Luke, continues relating Jesus teaching on the 'fear of God' and the rich fool, storing up the treasures and pleasures of this world, who provided a life for himself, forgetting that his soul could be required of him. 'this night'. He then addresses the faithful and evil servant:
Luke 12
39 But know this, that if the master of the house had known what
....hour the thief would come, he would have watched
....and not allowed his house to be broken into.
47 And that servant who knew his master's will, and did not prepare
....himself or do according to his will, shall be beaten with many stripes.
48 But he who did not know, yet committed things deserving of stripes,
....shall be beaten with few. For everyone to whom much is given,
....from him much will be required; and to whom much has been
....committed, of him they will ask the more.

The 'consummate life' of a disciple of Christ, of 'kingdom offspring', children of God, is one who by the Holy Spirit suppresses evil inclinations, beginning with speech, followed by actions. The sin of the garden initiated with 'speech / intercourse' (another word for speech) with the serpent. If our tongue, our speech, our intercourse, is not trained to the Word of God, both our speech and our actions will lend itself to sexual immorality. If our heart and our tongue is not 'discipled' / ENOCH - we are not pleasing God. Words of 'another language' are 'translated'. If we should expect to be translated 'here and now' as was ENOCH - what are we speaking? What are we doing? What is our lifestyle? On earth as it is in heaven. Knowing our fleshly weakness God provides forgiveness:

Luke 13 opens with parables, the first being 'repent or perish'. The root of immorality goes deeper than its outward symptoms. Luke 11 began with 'Our Father ... give us this day our daily bread'. You will find at the root, the trust cycle with the 'Father' has been broken' - in heaven and on earth. Pray to rebuke a spirit of unbelief that the Father in heaven desires to care for you according to His will - according to His Word. So many seek to fill this gnawing pain in their own way, by their own plan, by their own hand. It's been my experience, the school of hard knocks, that if it is not according to God's Word -- according to obedience to His ten commandments - -to His Word that says, 'but I say' especially regarding marriage / divorce - -it is not God.

Luke 13
24 Strive to enter through the narrow gate, for many, I say to you,
....will seek to enter and will not be able.
25 When once the Master of the house has risen up and shut the door,
....and you begin to stand outside and knock at the door, saying,
...."Lord, Lord, open for us,' and He will answer and say to you,
...."I do not know you, where you are from,'
26 Then you will begin to say, "We ate and drank in Your presence,

27 But He will say, "I tell you I do not know you, where you are from.

When we have spoken life over ourselves and our marriage and it is not healed, you will generally find 'one' who was not in agreement with God. God says, 'Let the UNBELIEVER depart.' A Christian is not an 'unbeliever', but if the 'sin of unbelief reigns in the body in agreement with 'hard-heartedness', the Christian has walked out of the safety net, to be given over to the destruction of the flesh. [1 Corinthians 5]. When abuse is present in a relationship, a marriage, separation becomes mandatory, but that separation is not necessarily a reason for divorce. Divorce is considered as an 'amputation of a body part', a last resort (to be as a life-saving measure), when an organ or limb (the marriage partner) no longer responds to life-saving measures. MOST DIVORCE AMONG 'CHRISTIANS' does not meet the criteria for 'amputation'. The divorce becomes self-serving, for gratification of fleshly desire. Christ came to redeem man from his selfish nature, to know the love of God.
For each of us, lust of the flesh, lust of the eyes and the pride of life is a full scale battle. Our lives show the battle scars, having gone so contrary to the Word of God that it may appear there is no hope to salvage our own life, let alone reconcile the mess. But as one preacher said, 'Your mess - becomes you mess-age when you allow God to come into your heart and into your 'mess'. God does 'raise the dead', and God will ALWAYS work with the repentant - according to his Word. He can not go against 'Himself'.
1Corinthians 6:
18 Flee sexual immorality. Every sin that a man (male or female) does
....is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality
....sins against his own body.
19 Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit
....who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own?
20 For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body
....and in your spirit, which are God's.
1 Thessalonians 4:1-8
1 Finally then, brethren, we urge and exhort in the Lord Jesus that you
..should abound more and more, just as you received from us how you
..ought to walk and to please God;
2 for you know what commandments we gave you through the Lord Jesus.
3 For this is the will of God, your sanctification: that you should
...abstain from sexual immorality πορνεία porneia por-ni'-ah;
4 that each of you should know how to possess his own vessel in
...sanctification and honor,
5 not in passion of lust, like the Gentiles who do not know God;
6 that no one should take advantage of and defraud his brother in this
...matter, because the Lord is the avenger of all such, as we also
...forewarned you and testified.
7 For God did not call us to uncleanness, but in holiness.
8 Therefore he who rejects this does not reject man, but God,
...who has also given us His Holy Spirit.
Sexual immorality: πορνεία porneia por-ni'-ah
1. illicit sexual intercourse
...1. adultery, fornication, homosexuality, lesbianism,
......intercourse with animals etc.
2. sexual intercourse with close relatives; Lev. 18
3. sexual intercourse with a divorced man or woman; Mark. 10:11,
...2. metaph. the worship of idols
......1. of the defilement of idolatry,
.........as incurred by eating the sacrifices offered to idols
God is calling His church to repentance. It's not about our past, its about our PRESENT, and its about our 'very near future'. Do we want to wake up in eternity and find out we played the part of the 'fool', the part of Esau who sold our birthright in Christ, for 'one morsel' of earthly pleasure?
To be continued in Marriage, Adultery and Divorce Shalom!
