LOOKING at the foundation of God's covenant [post 36 on 7-09] we saw the 'beginning' covenant that made provision for establishing a house - a WIFE - to carry on God's Name. The b wife is joined with the rb Son / Heir , as a )rb NEW CREATION in His Spirit. The t cross reveals the y authority of the #)r head man and b his house - his wife who is in perfect agreement with Him. The t cross reveals 'simple faith' as the y thrust of the #)r beginning of wisdom in the 'fear of the Lord when b dwelling in / with God. This is a description of the the 'firstfruit wife' - br)#yt - in whom their is 'no guile' in their mouth, a Jewish remnant who overcome by the blood of the Lamb, the word of their testimony and love not their lives to the death - completing the bride.
The cross not only reveals, but establishes the identity of God's ty#)r FIRSTFRUIT b WIFE.
Hebrew is an interesting language when you look at root words - generally 3 letters, but when you look at all the combinations read forward, backward and flipped - -each combination has a relation to the original form. Looking at ty#)rb backward / mirror image br)#yt continues a restoration picture worth considering. The he-goat #yt is known as a 'flock leader' and commentaries mention him as a 'striker'. This word is first seen in Genesis 30 after Jacob's wife Rachel (ewe lamb / on a journey) has born Joseph (Jehovah has added / brought increase). Jacob passes through Laban's entire flock and removes all the spotted, speckled (to mark by puncturing / branding) and black (sheep and) goats as his wages. The goat, tayeesh, is again seen in Proverbs 30 as Agur (gathered) son of Jakeh (the blameless) prophesies of the lion, greyhound (battle horse), the he-goat (the striker) and the king with his troops with him. All these are stately in their movement .
The...... #yt...STRIKER is .... #y... TO BE ...... the r)#... PRINCE RULER. .... An 'ambush' is a battle plan mentioned for several battles in Scripture, Ai for one, Lamentations (Hebrew: אֵיכָה, Eikhah, ʾēkhā(h)) for another. Looking at the book of Lamentations as a whole:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Book_of_Lamentations
It is called in the Hebrew canon 'Eikhah, meaning "How," being the formula for the commencement of a song of wailing. It is the first word of the book (see 2 Sam. 1:19-27). The Septuagint adopted the name rendered "Lamentations" (or "Threnoi Hieremiou", abbreviated "Thren." in some Latin commentaries, from the Greek threnoi = Hebrew qinoth) now in common use, to denote the character of the book, in which the prophet mourns over the desolations brought on Jerusalem and the Holy Land by the Chaldeans. In the Hebrew Bible (the Tanakh) it is placed among the Ketuvim, the Writings. (Easton’s Bible Dictionary).
Most commentators see Lamentations as reflecting the period immediately following the destruction of Jerusalem in 586 BC, [Dobbs / Allsopp] though Provan [reading texts against a historical background] argues for an a historical interpretation. Many elements of the lament are borne out in the historical narrative in 2 Kings concerning the fall of Jerusalem: Jerusalem lying in ruins (Lamentations 2:2 and 2 Kings 25:9), enemies entering the city (Lamentations 4:12 and 2 Kings 24:11), people going into exile (Lamentations 1:3 and 2 Kings 24:14) and the sanctuary being plundered (Lamentations 1:10 and 2 Kings 24:13). On the other hand, Babylon is never mentioned in Lamentations, though this could simply be to make the point that the judgment comes from God, and is a consequence of Judah disobeying him.
The book consists of five separate poems. In chapter 1 the prophet dwells on the manifold miseries oppressed by which the city sits as a solitary widow weeping sorely. In chapter 2 these miseries are described in connection with national sins and acts of God. Chapter 3 speaks of hope for the people of God. The chastisement would only be for their good; a better day would dawn for them. Chapter 4 laments the ruin and desolation that had come upon the city and temple, but traces it only to the people's sins. Chapter 5 is a prayer that Zion's reproach may be taken away in the repentance and recovery of the people. [Easton]
The first four poems (chapters) are acrostics, like some of the Psalms (25, 34, 37, 119), i.e., each verse begins with a letter of the Hebrew alphabet taken in order. The first, second, and fourth have each twenty-two verses, the number of the letters in the Hebrew alphabet. The third has sixty-six verses, in which each three successive verses begin with the same letter. The fifth is not acrostic, but also has twenty-two verses. [Easton] In the second, third and fourth chapters, the order of the 16th letter (ע) and the 17th (פ) is reversed.
The Book of Lamentations is recited annually on the Tisha b'Av, the anniversary of the destruction of both of the Jewish Temples as well as numerous other unfavorable days in Jewish history.
At the "Wailing Wall" in the Old City of Jerusalem "the Jews assemble every Friday afternoon to bewail the downfall of the holy city, kissing the stone wall and watering it with their tears. They repeat from their well-worn Hebrew Bibles and prayer-books the Lamentations of Jeremiah and suitable Psalms." [Phillip Schaff quoted by Easton]
Keep in mind as we progress with this thought that the current nation of Israel (declared 'a nation' by 'man') just celebrated their 63rd year. The tetrads of 2014 -15 fall in the 66th and 67th years.
Psalm 90:10
The days of our lives are seventy years; And if by reason of strength they are eighty years,
Yet their boast is only labor and sorrow; For it is soon cut off, and we fly away.
With Agur's [gathered] prophecy in mind and his mention of the 'lion, the greyhound (battle horse), the he-goat, and a king with his troops with him - 2 Thessalonians mentions 'a gathering together.' with the Lord Jesus Christ, the lion of Judah,
2 Thessalonians 2
..........1 Now, brethren, concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ
.............and our gathering together to Him, we ask you,
..........2 not to be soon shaken in mind or troubled, either by spirit or by
.............word or by letter, as if from us, as though the day of Christ had come.
..........3 Let no one deceive you by any means; for that Day will not come unless
.............the falling away apostasia comes first, and the man of sin is revealed ,
.............the son of perdition,
..........4 who opposes and exalts himself above all that is called God or that is
.............worshiped, so that he sits as God in the temple of God,
.............showing himself that he is God.
This above is a bittersweet experience, definitely a time of national mourning - the apostasy - yet triggering the Lord's coming.
Keeping Lamentations in mind, Lamentations 3 which speaks of the 'hope of the people' that their 'chastisement' would be only for their good and that a better day would dawn for them - there are verses worth noting at this point:
..8 Even when I cry and shout, He shuts out my prayer.
..9 He has blocked my ways with hewn stone ; He has made my paths crooked.
10 He has been to me a bear lying in wait, like a lion in ambush.
11 He has turned aside my ways and torn me in pieces;
.... He has made me desolate [deflowered / deprive a woman of her virginity].
12 He has bent His bow and set me up as a target for the arrow.
13 He has caused the arrows of His quiver to pierce my loins.
14 I have become the ridicule of all my people their taunting song all the day.
15 He has filled me with bitterness, He has made me drink wormwood.
Revelation 8:11
The name of the star is Wormwood. A third of the waters became wormwood,
and many men died from the water, because it was made bitter.
Agur first mentions he has blocked my ways with 'hewn stone'. In Hebrew thought, hewn stone is referenced to the letter PEH (the mouth) in this way:
[Rabbi Y Ginsburgh] We find the same phenomenon of seventy in relation to eighty with regard to the workers employed by King Slomon in the building of the Temple; "And Solomon had seventy thousand bearers of burden and eighty thousand hewers in the mountain'. Thus the lifespan of seventy years symbolizes the consummation of bearing the burden of one's own task and responsibility in life, whereas the lifespan of eighty years symbolizes the addition of having, with might, hewed out the raw materials of Creation (the 'underground' foundation of reality), building blocks for the Temple. HEWING SYMBOLIZES THE BEARING OF A CHILD', hewed from the 'rock' of 'his father', as is said, 'Look unto the rock from which you were hewn and to [Abraham called the Temple site 'mountain'] and unto Sarah that bore you...' David, the secret of seventy*, was unable himself to build the Temple. His son Solomon was entrusted with the mitzvah. In general, one's 'hewn child' becomes the building block of the Temple of G-d. The 'might' to hew him is the mystery of 80.
*David lived 70 years, and died. The difference between 70 and 80 - ten days - makes you think of Rosh ha Shanah / and the church of Smyrna (martyrs) who have 'tribulation' 10 days. (If a day be a year - like it was in the wilderness). Selah.
Beginning in Revelation 7: the sealing of the 144,000 Jewish tribes followed by a 'large gathering' a 'great multitude' seen gathered before the throne of God, having come out of the 'great tribulation'. Revelation 8, the drinking of bitter water from which many died, one -third, not all. If a man's wife was suspect of being in adultery [Numbers 5-16-22] she is brought before the priest and made to drink bitter water. If she is guilty she is under the oath of the curse, 'her thigh will rot and her belly swell'. if she is not guilty, the 'water will not hurt her'. In Revelation 18, the city, the 'harlot Babylon' falls and in Revelation 19 the heavens open and the 'stately in movement' horse with its 'faithful and true' rider appears. In ambush - HE will take the city and its inhabitants.
Jeremiah 4:25
So they said to Jeremiah, "Let the Lord be a true and faithful witness between us,
if we do not do according to everything which the Lord your God sends us by you.
Revelation 19:11
Now I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse. And He who sat on him
was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness He judges and makes war.
In Revelation 20-22 it is clear who is 'inside' and who is 'outside'. The BEGINNING and the 'end', His tithe of twelve bringing rb 'great abundance' that His people will b dwell with Him.
